Ashok Pandit is back, and this time he is fighting for the rights
of women, says Kshama Rao
“Mukkammal is about a modern day Draupadi in search of
the perfect man. Deepti Naval plays the lead role. Sumeesha,
who is a married woman and has kids. In our society women have
always borne the brunt of men’s complexities. Wives are
always taken for granted. It’s a story from a woman’s
point of view. It is about how in our society, a man is allowed
to talk about their flings and affairs and the wives even accept
them or are rather forced to accept them. Ironically, a woman
is not even allowed to talk about her male friends. If she does,
the husband begins doubting her. He just can’t accept
it. Why? We are not passing any judgement, we are just telling
a story.”
